Tree Pruning

Tree pruning can be carried out for a wide range of reasons including

Trees that are too close to boundary fences or buildings
Trees that are overhanging public footpath or road
Trees that are becoming too large for the garden
To improve the shape and form of the crown and branches
To remove dead or diseased material
To remediate after storm damage.

Pruning is best carried out when the tree is dormant in late autumn and winter. Spring pruning can cause problems as some trees will bleed sap at this time of year. Our experienced team are always happy to advise on the best course of action to take as there are exceptions to this, such as cherry trees.

Tree Removal

The removal of a tree may become necessary for a wide variety of reasons:

When a tree is dead. All trees have a finite lifespan and once dead can deteriorate and become a hazard if not removed.
If a tree becomes diseased it can be necessary to remove it – but not always so our experienced team will advise on the best course of action, including removal if required.
Proximity to buildings where either the roots may be a threat to the stability of the foundations or where the tree is dangerously close to a building and may cause damage during storms.

Our skilled tree surgeons use a variety of methods to remove trees ranging from a straight fell to a complex sectional felling using ropes, pulleys and other rigging to bring it down safely.

Hedge Reduction, Removal and Trimming

All aspects of hedge care can be handled by our team . This might be simply be trimming the hedge accurately and neatly to leave a smart boundary to your property but could also involve reducing the height of a hedge along its length or even the complete removal of the hedging.

Fast growing hedges such as Leylandii can quickly outgrow their location and become difficult to maintain but we can always advise on the best way to remedy the situation and bring your hedge back under control.

Crown Reduction and Lifting

Crown reduction thins the branches of the tree itself, while maintaining (or even improving) the shape and form of the tree. This can also be required where the tree is in close proximity to buildings, lampposts, signs etc

Crown lifting is the removal of lower branches, normally to a maximum of 1/3 the height of the tree in order to keep the balance and form of the tree. This can be especially useful for allowing more light onto a property and for providing clearance over roads and pathways as well as buildings.

Shrub Removal

All types and sizes of shrub can be removed – this may be because they have died, have become too big or simply because they are no longer wanted in that location on your property.

Stump Grinding

Our sister company, Wallace Stump Grinding, can remove any stumps left after tree or hedge removal, reinstating a level garden for you to replant as you wish.
